The Department of English has been in the institution as a leading stream since 1957 when Alipurduar College was set up . Its glorious run continues, and English Department has been among the first four departments since Alipurduar College was upgraded into a university. The Department has four substantive teachers and one SACT (State-Aided College Teacher) with both undergraduate and postgraduate courses running parallel with a large intake of the students from the entire Dooars region, adjoining districts and even from lower Assam region. Academic output is satisfactory, and we hope, in future, the English Department will march ahead with stronger leaps with better teaching, learning and research ambience.
